Preliminary Academic Chair Education

Purpose

The purpose of Preliminary Academic Chair Education (PACE) is to equip new chairs to balance their administrative duties with their research or teaching commitments, and prepare them to handle a variety of issues they may face as the chair of an academic department.

Program

PACE will be offered once each year as an all-morning event.  Topics for the event will include: BASIS training, faculty evaluations, and communicating with faculty.  There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to a panel of veteran department chairs and cover topics that may not have been discussed in the breakout sessions.

Participants

Department chairs who have been in the position for 3 years or fewer are strongly encouraged to attend this event.

How to RSVP

RSVP to Kathie Biondi at 575-2152 or kbiondi@uark.edu.

PACE will be offered on Thursday, August 11, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Arkansas Union.
